I’m seriously starting to think about the implications of AI on research, particularly qualitative research. The potential, the drawbacks as well as possible challenges. I know there has been substantial work done in this area already by some excellent scholars.

I think recent changes in tech have changed how I think about potential uses and implications. If anyone is interested in this, please sign out.

I have ideas for a couple of projects that can be used to explore some of the deeper potential, impacts and implications of AI on qualitative research in more detail (currently unfunded).

I am really keen to explore this further and welcome anyone reaching out.

Beyond the research on this, I also have ideas for discussion and reading groups (all as a starting point) – but as I said, lots of ideas! Please feel free to spread the word.

Being a researcher who greatly values ethics, next on my reading list is this article:

Jobin, A., Ienca, M. & Vayena, E. The global landscape of AI ethics guidelines. Nat Mach Intell 1, 389–399 (2019).https://www.nature.com/articles/s42256-019-0088-2
